Airfare Deals to Paris for the Tour de France

    June 30th, 2011

Discover the Real France during the Tour the France.

By Florin R. Ferrs (Bon vivant and Europe airfare specialist)

I just saw an airfare deal to Paris on Vayama,  flying on XL France, a hot new French low cost airline that is offering nonstop flights to the City of Light from Las Vegas and New York.  Since prices for midsummer travel tend to skyrocket on the traditional legacy carriers, XL France offers the best alternative, plus I hear that their service is great, for a low cost. The upcoming Tour de France in July provides me with the perfect excuse, so I have booked my ticket to Paris, together with a rental car, in order to put right one of the biggest wrongs of my life.

Rocks of Ages: Summer Solstice in Stonehenge

    June 21st, 2011

Caught Between a Rock and a Nice Place: Fly to London for Less this Summer with Vayama…and the Druids.

By Florin R. Ferrs (Druid connoisseur)

Seven druids dance in seven time.
Sing the song the bells call, loudly chiming.

    Ring out these bells.
    Ring out, ring solstice bells.
    Ring solstice bells.”

Jethro Tull – “Ring Solstice Bells”

    In ancient times,
Hundreds of years before the dawn of history.
There lived a strange race of people…the Druids.
No one knows who they were, or…what they were doing…
    But their legacy remains…
Hewn into the living rock of Stonehenge
    …”

    Spinal Tap – “Stonehenge”

Be a Winner in Wimbledon this Summer

    June 13th, 2011

Discover London’s Sporting Traditions with Vayama’s Airfare Deals

By Florin R. Ferrs (Lover of the Sporting Life)

London transforms itself in June and July. As the tourists start to pour in, the classic black English Bobbie jackets are replaced with white short-sleeved shirts and the locals escape to Margate on the coast or crowd outside pubs which are too hot to drink inside. The English summer is also a sporty and cultural one, with horse races (like Ascot), operas at Covent Garden, and West End shows galore. Vayama, my favorite budget travel website is offering airfare deals to London this summer. So I decided that it was time to fly back to London for my first visit to Wimbledon.  And no, I’m not an aristocrat or made of money. I plan on doing Wimbledon on the cheap, here’s how.

    Tap into Taipei

    June 8th, 2011

Discover the Republic of China  with China Airlines

Taipei, Taiwan.  Republic of China. Long known as a stopover hub for China Airlines, Taipei airport became a familiar stopover point for travelers on the way to Bangkok or Hong Kong who enjoyed its clean efficiency. But very few leisure travelers on their way to the beaches of Cebu or Thailand ever bothered to leave the confines of its air conditioned comfort.  But now with China Airlines discounted airfare from San Francisco to Taipei, many are discovering Taiwan’s bright lights, big city action, its lush countryside and miles of scenic coastline.  No wonder the Portuguese explorers who visited the island in the 1500’s named it Ilha Formosa, or beautiful island.

Midnight in Paris: Midsummer Airfare Sale

    June 3rd, 2011

Have your own”Midnight in Paris” experience this summer.

By Florin R. Ferrs (Paris Midnight Stroller)

In Woody Allen’s latest romp “Midnight in Paris”, the hero of the story goes for a midnight stroll in Paris and is soon transported (in a vintage car, no less) to the Paris of the 1920’s. A time when the city was full of talented (and not so talented) American expats, hell bent on riding out prohibition in the bars and cabarets of Paris. Those were heady days, best described by Ernest Hemingway in his novel Fiesta and in his memoir A Movable Feast. In the movie, the shocked protagonist meets face to face with Hemingway, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein and other members of the American expat community that mingled with European artists like Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali back in the 1920’s.
