Vayama.com featured on the New York Times’ Frugal Traveler blog

Vayama was recently featured in a list of travel sites worth bookmarking on the New York Times’ Frugal Traveler blog. It was a comprehensive list outlining some of the most important ingredients of the travel experience: food, activities, expatriate travel guides, cheap transportation and of course, the right booking resource, Vayama.com. Author Seth Kugel shares, “Vayama simply seems to know about more airlines and often finds two one-way flights on different airlines that beat out a round-trip flight on a single one.’

Vayama is Taking Customer Care into the 21st Century

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Online travel agency Vayama has long been known for its discounted international flights and easy to use booking engine. Now the focus is taking customer service online to the next level. “All large online travel agencies, including Vayama, have been good at figuring out how to sell airline tickets online, but none have yet to make the post-purchase experience as easy as the pre-purchase experience,” says David Rush, Vayama’s Customer Relations Manager. “This includes the automation of many aspects of Vayama customer service. We want to be the first major online travel agency to offer a fully self sufficient website.”

This doesn’t mean Vayama will abandon the human factor. As Mr. Rush explains, “We will continue to offer our guests the services of a 24/7 call center, but our aim is to provide speedy customer care in the same way our customers booked their flights – online.”  Vayama sees this as the next natural step in online travel and plans to be at the forefront.

Vayama’s travelers benefit from many online customer service features available on the vayama.com website. These automated features are aimed at complementing the customer’s initial online purchase experience.

Vayama’s Extensive Online Customer Care Features Include:

1-Travel Alerts: Posted as soon as any world event may affect travel, including tips and instructions.

2-Online Change Requests:  Request date or route changes and receive quotes online.

3-Flight Status: Review your travel details in real time.

4- Airline Reviews: Data on all airlines available on Vayama.

5-Country Etiquette: Full of handy travel tips.

6-Health and safety:  From vaccines to revolutions.

7-I’m coming to visit: Online price alerts to visit your friends on Facebook.

What’s next for the digital customer care frontier at Vayama? Coming soon will be an online vacation package feature that will give even the most seasoned traveler a serious case of wanderlust. All at the same affordable fares and easy online customer care you’re used to receiving on vayama.com.

Save With B-List Airlines – In Transit Blog – NYTimes.com

When shopping for airfare, it’s easy to overlook smaller, unfamiliar carriers. But those so-called B airlines may offer the best deal.

Vayama.com, an international airfare site, says travelers can save by flying on B airlines this fall and winter compared to their better-known counterparts. For example, the cheapest nonstop flight from New York to Madrid in October was $524 on Air Europa in a recent search — $16 less than Continental and $184 cheaper than Delta. Icelandair, Martinair, and Air Berlin, are also good bets to Europe. Read more »

When Traveling Abroad, Avoid Social Blunders

CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 06/22/2008: Americans aren’t always greeted with open arms when traveling abroad. That could be because open arms aren’t polite in that particular country, or it could be that we’re perceived as louts and the people there don’t want to hug us. It’s your mission to find out.

The travel Web site Vayama.com surveyed U.S. travelers, about half of whom said they have committed social sins in other countries, and about the same number said they simply force their American customs on others, not bothering to find out if you’re supposed to let the oldest guy in the room start eating first (Kenya).

To help you prepare, we’ve culled some tips from the site’s etiquette section,www.vayama.com/etiquette: Read more
