Vayama Announces Go Somewhere Sweepstakes on Facebook

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Vayama (www.vayama.com), a leading online travel agency uniquely focused on international travel, announced today the Vayama Go Somewhere Sweepstakes on Facebook. As a way to inspire people to think about where in the world they’d like to travel, Vayama is inviting Facebook users to participate in the sweepstakes for a chance to win an international trip valued at $5,500. A lucky winner will receive two roundtrip air tickets on Emirates Airline, plus US $2,000 spending money.

The Go Somewhere Sweepstakes is an extension of the Vayama Go Somewhere Tour, a 12-stop, U.S. mobile marketing campaign launched in early April. The centerpiece of the Go Somewhere Tour is an 18-foot custom-designed truck that serves as a hub for global discovery and travel inspiration at each event along the way.

“We have a highly engaged community on Facebook, and wanted to find a way to make them part of the Go Somewhere Tour experience,” said Joan Ioannou, Brand Marketing Director for Vayama.com. “Whether they’re able to join us along the tour route or not, people now can visit our Facebook page to dream about – and possibly win – a trip to one of the fascinating destinations where Emirates flies around the globe.”

The Go Somewhere Tour is the next step in Vayama’s brand evolution. In November 2012, the five-year-old online travel agency re-launched, introducing a logo redesign and the beta version of a new, highly visual website. Vayama.com inspires people to dream about international travel and greatly improves how travelers search and book international flights.

The Go Somewhere Sweepstakes ends August 04, 2013 and is open to legal residents of the U.S. over the age of 18. For more information and to view complete contest rules, please visit: Go Somewhere Sweepstakes on Facebook.

Vayama Announces Go Somewhere Mobile Experience Tour

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., April 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ – Vayama (www.vayama.com), a leading online travel agency uniquely focused on international travel, announced today the launch of the Vayama Go Somewhere Tour, a 12-market U.S. campaign designed to inspire people to think about where in the world they’d like to travel and help them get one step closer to making that dream a reality. The centerpiece of the Go Somewhere Tour is an 18-foot custom-designed truck that serves as a hub for global discovery and travel inspiration at each event along the way. The tour kicks off on April 12 in Los Angeles.

In each market, the Go Somewhere Tour truck invites people to experience some of the world’s most interesting cities. A fun game show allows players to compete against one another on international trivia. And a custom-created iPad app allows people to navigate an interactive map to learn compelling facts about different cities around the globe, see beautiful images and watch picturesque time-lapsed videos. If people are interested to learn more, the app allows them to easily sign up for destination-specific content on the city of their choosing.

Perhaps the most practical element of the Go Somewhere Tour experience is a passport photo booth. Recent U.S. passport statistics reveal that only an estimated 39 percent of the country’s population has a valid passport. For those people who dream about taking an international trip, walking away with a passport-ready photo in hand brings them one step closer to making that dream of international travel a reality.

“We’re very excited about the opportunity to directly connect with people across the country,” said Joan Ioannou, Brand Marketing Director for Vayama.com. “When it comes to planning an international trip, some people begin with a specific trip in mind, and others need time to explore and gather information before deciding on a destination. We’ve carefully designed every interaction in the Vayama Go Somewhere Tour to meet people wherever they are in their trip planning process.”

From April to August 2013, the Vayama Go Somewhere Tour will stop at more than a dozen events and cover over 6,200 miles. The route covers much of the western region of the country, finishing in the Pacific Northwest in August.

Over the course of the tour, people who visit the Go Somewhere Tour truck can enter the Go Somewhere Sweepstakes. The Grand Prize winner will receive an international trip for two on Emirates Airline, plus U.S. $2,000 spending money. 12 lucky First Prize winners (1 winner in each market) will receive a U.S. $1,500 travel voucher, redeemable on Vayama.com. Market stops include:

  • Los Angeles, CA
  • San Diego, CA
  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Austin, TX
  • Houston, TX
  • Dallas, TX
  • Denver, CO
  • Salt Lake City, UT
  • San Francisco, CA
  • Lake Tahoe, CA
  • Portland, OR
  • Seattle, WA

Vayama Presents: New Ways to See the World

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Feb. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ – When it comes to planning an international trip, people tend to first consider some of the more popular destinations based on well-known attractions or frequently traveled itineraries. While these familiar locales offer wonderful experiences both culturally and aesthetically, experts at leading online travel agency, Vayama (www.vayama.com) recommend giving those destinations off-the-beaten-path a try this year.

Some of the top international destinations booked through Vayama are also some of the most recognizable tourist hubs around the world. However, with a robust network of global partners, Vayama is able to provide travelers with an extensive set of fares and itineraries beyond the well-traveled destinations.

To help both savvy and new travelers start thinking of cities outside the box, Vayama has put together a list of alternative destination suggestions.

For those travelers who are seeking a European experience such as visiting Paris, Barcelona, London, Rome and Amsterdam, Vayama encourages travelers to consider other thriving cities or staying in smaller towns just outside the metropolitan centers, where the nightlife is eclectic and history still very rich. Alternatives include:

•   Ghent, Belgium
•   Rotterdam, Holland
•   Siena, Italy
•   Glasgow, Scotland
•   Thessalonik, Greece

If picturesque beaches or tranquil mountain scenery are what you’re after, consider these serene locales for a relaxing, crowd-free vacation:

•   Myvatn Lake, Iceland
•   Campania region, Italy
•   Tasmania, Australia
•   Candidasa, Indonesia
•   Gozo, Maltese Republic
•   Menorca, Spain

For those wanting a more cosmopolitan experience, like you might find in Hong Kong, Dubai, Beijing and Tokyo, these urban stops are worth visiting:

•   Daegu, South Korea
•   Kagoshima, Japan
•   Bratislava, Slovakia
•   Da’an District, Taipei City, Taiwan
•   Valparaíso, Chile
•   Durban, South Africa

“Our recommendations are not intended to dismiss the popular travel cities, but rather to encourage those travelers looking for something off-the-beaten-path a different perspective on international travel,” explains Joan Ioannou , Brand Marketing Director for Vayama.com. “As people begin their travel planning process, the options for where to go are vast. Our goal at Vayama is to be the go-to resource for both those popular, well-traveled destinations, but also for those who are seeking to travel to some of the lesser-known destinations around the globe.”
