Originally founded by Tyrolean Air of Austria in conjunction with the state-owned Albanian company Albtransport, Albanian Airlines was privatized in 1997 and established as Albanian's national airline. Its base is at Tirana's Rinas Mother Teresa Airport with service currently offered to a dozen European cities including Brussels, Frankfurt, Athens, Bari, Bologna, Milan, Rome, Turin, Rimini, London, Istanbul and Priština.Albanian Airlines operates three BAe 146s turbojets, series 100, 200, and 300, with 70-112 seat capacity. A Fokker 50 with up to 58 seat capacity was added in early 2007.
