Established in 2006, Hong Kong Airlines launched its first passenger flights between Hong Kong and top destinations in the People's Republic of China. The airline is based in Hong Kong, with its main hub located at the major Chek Lap Kok International Airport. Within a short period of time Hong Kong Airlines has developed remarkably quickly and has a growing destination network that includes Bali, Auckland, Tokyo, Beijing, Seoul, Shanghai, Bangkok, Sapporo, Colombo, and Okinawa. As well as the Asia Pacific area and Gold Coast, the airline is now extending its scheduled routes to Vancouver in North America. Since 2011, Skytrax has awarded the airline the highly-esteemed 4-star rating for its welcoming service and its excellent onboard quality of customer care. It is also listed among the top 20 list of the World's Best 100 Airlines in 2018 and one of the top 10 airlines in Asia.
The airline offers two different classes of ticket: Economy and Business. Economy Class passengers can enjoy in-flight gourmet dining with excellent authentic Cantonese cuisine. Alternatively, there are healthy and special diet options. While onboard, passengers can take the opportunity to purchase from the duty free Skyshop, which offers over 200 products. Business Class travellers can take advantage of the priority check-in and boarding, extra baggage allowance and the Business-Class gourmet meals provided by top restaurants.
Passengers can check-in online prior to arriving at the airport and can also use the electronic check-in services were available at airports. The newly introduced Mobile Boarding Pass is now acceptable for all passengers who wish to use their mobile phone devices.
