Fly with Iran Air
Iran's Premier Airline
Known as The Airline of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iran Air is the country's flagship airline, as well as its most popular, and is based out of Tehran. Founded in 1944 and originally named Iranian Airways, the airline's first commercial flight flew from Tehran to Mashhad and established routes to Cairo, Tel Aviv and Paris the following year. Over the next 20 years, the airline became a popular national service, flying all over the Middle East and also operating routes to Europe. In 1961, the original company merged with a freight cargo company and was renamed Iran Air.
After years of expansion and nationalisation, Iran Air became the fastest growing airline of the 1970, and was named the world's second safest airline in 1976. Currently servicing over 60 domestic and international destinations and employing over 11,000 people, the airline continues its rapid rise to the top, with a fleet size of 34 Airbuses and Boeing aircraft transporting millions of passengers every year to destinations in Europe and Asia.
The airline currently serves 35 international destinations and 25 domestic cities. The company made history in 2017 by appointing their first female CEO. Now the airline is aiming to modernise its ageing fleet and has struck a billion dollar deal with Boeing and Airbus. This move will increase the fleet size to over 110 aircraft.
