Jet2.com is a Yorkshire-based airline that specialises in budget flights between the United Kingdom, continental Europe, Turkey and some Mediterranean islands. The airline was born out of the rebranding of Channel Express, a regional UK airline that changed its name in 2006. Expansion times arrived shortly after, when the airline opened secondary hubs in Manchester, Newcastle, Birmingham and other UK airports in the Midlands and northern regions. By the end of 2016, Jet2.com reached a record number of passengers that exceeded 6 million.
Throughout the years, Jet2.com has stayed true to its original objective, which was to provide short and medium-haul flights between the UK and some of the top European destinations. The number of destinations it flies to is approximately 60. Currently, the only destination outside of the Europe / Mediterranean region is New York.
Jet2's route network has been created with leisure travellers in mind, with a selection of flights for tourists wanting city breaks, holiday packages to popular islands, seaside resorts and ski towns. The packages offer great value for money, as the prices quoted include flights, accommodation, luggage and transfers. The airline has received several awards, like Tripadvisor's Travellers Choice and Recommended Short-Haul Airline by Which? Magazine.
Since this airline mainly caters to holidaymakers and groups, there is only one cabin class available. Economy seats are the standard when flying with this carrier, but there are a few seats on every aircraft that have a larger legroom and can be reserved online or at check-in by paying the relevant fee.
To find the best value on airfares, you can use the Low Fare Finder available on Jet2.com. Usually, the lowest fares are available on flights departing on weekdays and during the low season (usually autumn or winter depending on the destination). Booking in advance can also result in significant savings. Moreover, the Leeds-based airline operates a membership scheme called MyJet2, which offers further discounts and exclusive access to low airfares.
The airline issues mobile boarding passes to travellers who check-in online or through the mobile app. You should know that for most routes, checking-in at the airport incurs a fee, so make sure you are ready to go and print your boarding pass or have it saved to your smartphone before you leave. This airline's baggage policy is more generous than those applied by other budget carriers:
