Introduction to Malaysia Airlines
Established on 12th October 1937, Malaysia Airlines was commissioned by the government of the Colonial Straits Settlement to run an air service between Singapore and Penang. Within ten years, the airline had become an international carrier, employing more than 2000 staff and operating an impressive fleet of aircraft.
Travel Merchant of the Year
The company has received more than 100 awards and in 2011, won the prestigious 'Travel Merchant of the Year' award. In October 2012, the airline celebrated its 40th anniversary and from its humble beginnings of just 18 aircraft, now operates an extensive fleet flying to more than 75 destinations worldwide.
The airline currently operates daily direct service from Los Angeles to Kuala Lumpur, as well as 3 flights per week from Newark to Kuala Lumpur via Stockholm. Malaysia Airlines' hub in the ultra-modern Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) serves as a convenient gateway for passengers traveling to onward points in Southeast Asia, Australia or the Indian Subcontinent. The airline currently flies to over 60 international destinations as well as to 16 cities domestically within Malaysia.
As of today, Malaysia Airlines transports more than 50,000 passengers on a daily basis; an impressive achievement. This airline offers superior service to its passengers, flying to more than 1,000 destinations in more than 150 countries around the world and also providing access to more than 90 airport lounges. It's no wonder then, that the airline has been awarded the 'World's Best Cabin Crew' award and achieved the SkyTrax Five Star Rating.
