Montenegro Airlines

Montenegro Airlines - A Brand-Leading Airline in the Region.

Montenegro Airlines, a Western Balkans airline which boasts a fleet of five modern aircraft, was established 23 years ago on 24th October 1994. It now flies to 20 scheduled destinations throughout Europe as well as charter flights to other destinations, including Teheran and Tel Aviv. The airline has been a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) since 2000. Since 2003, Montenegro Airlines flights can be booked on the Amadeus global reservation service. The company is IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Standards Audit) compliant; a benchmark for airline global safety management. The airline was recently recognised as a brand leader in tourism in South-East Europe.

Although it was founded in 1994, the idea for having a Montenegrin airline had been suggested much earlier by the Montenegrin agency for Economic Restructuring And Foreign Investments as a means of increasing tourism and business. The airline did not acquire its first aircraft until 1996. Both its first two planes were Fokker 28mk 4000. From its birth, the airline experienced a rapid growth in passenger numbers; in the first year 16,000 passengers and in the second, 70,000 passengers. It flew its millionth passenger on 2nd July 2004 and recently its 3-millionth passenger. The airline's first flight in a plane with its own logo was to Bari, Italy. A destination, which was picked to symbolise the strong links between Italy and Montenegro. The company now has several code share agreements with other airlines.
