Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) was launched in 1992 following a collaboration between the Ukrainian State Association of Civil Aviation and the largest aircraft lessor, GPA. The airlines' first flight was on 25th November 1992 from Kyiv to London.

The airline has its headquarters in Kyiv, with the Kyiv Boryspil International Airport as its base hub. Initially, UIA was launched to maintain operations between Ukraine and Western Europe. Today, however, the airline offers flights from Ukraine to 38 other countries. Every week, Ukraine International Airlines handles 1100 flights, both domestic and international, to Europe, Africa, America, the Middle East, and Asia. The carrier offers its services to over 3000 global destinations, in collaboration with partner airlines.

The airline boasts of 35 modern airliners in its fleet. These aircraft include 23 New Generation Boeing 737, 3 Boeing 777-200ER, 2 Boeing 767-300ER, 5 Embraer 190, and 2 Embraer 195.

Ukraine International Airlines is not part of any airline alliance. However, the airline is a partner of the Flying Blue program, which is the frequent flyer program for SkyTeam members and a few other non-alliance carriers.

Ukraine International Airlines Travel Experience

Ukraine International Airlines offers short-haul, medium-haul, and long-haul flights to its passengers. For all of these flights, the airline strives to provide the best services for all passengers on board. Passengers get to choose among three cabin classes; Economy, Economy Premium, and Business Class. Passengers traveling in any of the cabins all get at least a meal and a beverage.

Economy Class

Passengers traveling with Economy Class receive complimentary water for short-haul and medium-haul flights. Meals on board should be purchased at an extra fee. The airline provides a three-course meal and a choice of beverages for long-haul flights.

Economy Premium Class

For short flights of up to two hours, passengers on board the economy premium class get an appetizer and dessert, together with a choice of beverages. An additional main course meal is provided for flights of up to six hours. For long flights, Ukraine International Airlines strives to keep passengers comfortable by providing a welcome service that includes nuts, juices, and water. Passengers have a selection of beverages to choose from, as well as two meal options. Additionally, the airline provides an amenity kit, a throw pillow, and a pillow.

Business Class

Business Class passengers get to enjoy their flights on UIA, whether they are short or long. For flights of up to six hours, passengers receive welcome services, a three-course meal, and a selection of beverages. In addition, they also receive some comfort elements such as a pillow, a throw blanket, and an overnight kit. The airline provides an additional choice of food, a mid-flight snack, bedding, and slippers for longer flights of up to 11 hours.

Ukraine International Airlines Check-in & Baggage

Ukraine International Airlines allows its passengers to check-in either at the airport or online via the website or the UIA mobile app. You'll then have to download your boarding pass or print it out.

Passengers can check-in online 14 days before departure for the business and economy premium classes. Economy Class passengers can check-in 48 hours before scheduled flights and 24 hours before chartered flights. For flights to and from the United States, online check-in opens 24 hours before the departure. The airline suggests that passengers check-in and drop their luggage at least 2 hours and 40 minutes before departure time. However, there are several exceptions for specific flights.

Additional Information

Extra or overweight baggage can be paid for online via the ‘Manage my Bookings’ portal on the Ukraine International Airlines website no later than six hours prior to departure, or a fee will be charged.

There have been new laws that have gone into effect in Ukraine, so passenger contact information is now mandatory at time of booking. UIA is now requiring that all passengers (except those that are flying on flights to/from New York, Bangkok, Colombo and Beijing) have a printed boarding pass, or an electronic boarding pass when traveling on UIA flights. If UIA is required to print a boarding pass for any of our passengers, there will be a charge of 10 Euros, or local equivalent, for each boarding pass.
