ELECTRONIC TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION - FLIGHTS TO/THROUGH CANADA
The Government of Canada has recently introduced a new entry requirement, known as an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), that applies to visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to or transiting Canada by air.
A visa-exempt foreign national is a person who is not a citizen of Canada and is not required to obtain a visa for the purpose of travel based on their country of nationality.
Effective March 15, 2016, visa-exempt foreign nationals must obtain an eTA before they can board a flight to Canada. To complete the required application for an eTA, you will need a valid passport, a credit card, and an email address. An eTA costs $7 CAD and is valid for up to five years.
Among those exempted from this new requirement are U.S. citizens and travellers with a valid visa. The entry requirements for travellers arriving by land or sea have not changed.
To determine if you need an eTA and/or to apply for one, visit the Government of Canada's Electronic Travel Authorization website click here.

Important Notice Regarding Flight Bookings from, to, and through the USA and Mandatory Secure Flight Passenger Data
Vayama would like to advise our customers booking flights to, through, or from the USA that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) now require Secure Flight Passenger Data (SFPD) to be entered into all reservations held for travel to/through/from the United States.
Customers planning to travel to the USA by air must provide the following information:
- Name as it appears on passport
- Date of birth
It is very important to be aware that Secure Flight Passenger Data is NOT an optional entry. Without SFPD, passengers will not be allowed to travel.
If you are affected by this, please submit your passenger details immediately if you have not already done so, by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org quoting your booking reference, to ensure that we have the full details above. Failure to do so could result in your reservation being canceled by the airline or you being denied boarding at the airport. SFPD must be present in your booking at least 72 hours in advance of flight departure.
The TSA's website also has details about this mandatory program. Click here for more information.
Important information regarding Transit Visa requirements when transiting into or out of Toronto (Terminal 1) or Vancouver on Air Canada
Travelers using the Transit Without Visa (TWOV) or China Transit Program (CTP), do not require a visa to transit Canada providing they transit directly to/from the USA via Toronto(Terminal 1) or Vancouver and all travel is with Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge or Air Canada Express.
Any intra-Canada segments are considered entering Canada and are therefore not permitted under the TWOV/CTP program. The Traveler must be ticketed, confirmed, and be either through-checked or have available their onward flight?s boarding pass for travel on a non-stop flight to any third country within the same day of arrival and within the scheduled hours of the US In-Transit Pre-Clearance facility (USITPC) as they remain at the facility (in the transit area) during their connection time. Their onward international flight must depart Toronto (Terminal 1) or Vancouver before 24:00 on the day of arrival.
